FAQ

If I pier one side of my house, will it cause the opposite side of the house to have problems in the future?

NO. When you have foundation problems, it is because a portion of the foundation has dropped, and is under stress. When we lift your foundation, we bring it back to it's original position, thus relieving the stress. This in no way affects the foundation beyond 5 feet from any pier.

If I put piers on my house, will it make the house hard to sell?

NO. Today's home buyer is better educated about the effects of water vs. clay. Most home buyers realize that in Oklahoma, if you don't have piers, you most likely will need piers in the future. Because of this, they feel that piering is actually a good thing because that is one problem they will not need to worry about in the future.

What do I do if one company tells me I need 5 piers, and another tells me I need 10 piers?

Although the foundation repair companies offer free estimates, and most companies have skilled employees to offer these estimates, it is always good to get an engineer to come out and evaluate the problem and give you an engineers report describing exactly how many piers will be required and where the piers are to be placed. The engineer will evaluate the problem and give you a professional, unbiased opinion of how many piers it will take to correct your problem. You can ask your engineer for referrals as to what piering companies you should call, as they work with every foundation repair company every day. The engineer can tell you who does quality work, who honors their warranties, and what system they recommend. You may then fax or mail his report to the piering companies you choose and they will all quote you based on the quantity of piers required by the engineer. The piering company will also place all piers per the engineers report. Once the piering company has the foundation lifted, the homeowner can then have the engineer come out to inspect the work performed. The engineer will either approve the work, or he might ask the piering company to lift a certain area a little more. Once everything meets the engineers requirements, he will give the piering company the approval, and the brackets will then be bolted off and the holes filled. He will give the homeowner his signed approval for them to put in their files.

You've reached the end.
